Summer Work Experience in France

Four Birkdale sixth-formers spent a week of their summer holidays undertaking work experience in St. Malo, France. They worked in a range of placements depending on their interests.
One worked in the old walled city, which was particularly busy with tourists, at the well-known Mère Poulard shop, while two students had the chance to work in children's holiday day camps. One student was based at a wine merchants close to the busy shopping centre of La Madeleine. The students were praised for their hard work and initiative as well as their efforts to improve their French.
By the end of the stay, the sixth-formers seemed to have gained much both linguistically and culturally and were certainly more confident as the week progressed. Even if the sun didn't shine every day, it was certainly a memorable week!
