PE

 
The Physical Education curriculum introduces pupils to a multitude of sports at different Key stages. Within key stages 3 and 4 pupils will have experienced Gymnastics, Basketball, Badminton, Hockey, Cricket, Athletics, Health Related Fitness, Climbing, Swimming, Rugby, Football, Cricket, Softball, Tennis, Cross-Country Running and Volleyball. At Sixth Form level students can also take part in Sailing, Squash and personal fitness activities at the Hallamshire Sports Club.
 
In addition opportunities are available for pupils to be involved in other activities such as Golf, Skiing, Fencing, Judo and Kick Boxing.
 

How many lessons do each year group have for PE?

S1/Year 7 - One PE lesson and one afternoon of Games (3 periods)
S2/Year 8 - One PE lesson and one afternoon of Games (3 periods)
S3/Year 9 - One PE lesson and three Games periods (one afternoon)
S4/Year 10 -One PE lesson (two if a GCSE subject is dropped and extra support applied) and three Games periods (one afternoon)
S5/Year 11 - One PE lesson (two if a GCSE subject is dropped and extra support applied) and three periods of Games
Sixth Form - three periods of Games
Pupils in the Sixth Form do not receive timetabled Physical Education lessons therefore Games lessons on a Wednesday are compulsory to all.
